MIT Concludes Regular Season with Pair of Losses

Feb. 15, 2008

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - MIT's squash team rounded out its regular season schedule by hosting a pair of matches against No. 15 Brown University and No. 22 Northeastern University on Tuesday night in the Zesiger Center. The Engineers dropped both matches by similar 9-0 scores, lowering their final regular season record to 2-11.

In Tuesday's early match against Brown, the powerful Bears thoroughly controlled play en route to winning all nine individual games by 3-0 scores. The nightcap against Northeastern saw a solid effort from senior No. 5 David Baumgartner earn him a victory in his contest's second game, though he ultimately fell, 9-0, 9-10, 9-2, 9-0.

The Engineers will now head into this weekend's Collegiate Squash Association Team Nationals with an aim at improving their No. 43 national ranking. MIT, which is co-hosting the event with Harvard University, will open play on Friday, Feb. 15, when it will take on Kenyon College at 7:00 p.m. at Harvard. The Cardinal and Gray will then host the University of California Berkeley in the Zesiger Center at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, before playing a final match on Sunday, Feb. 17, against a yet-to-be-determined opponent at a time to be announced.
